Want to know how #Herbalife helped me become an overall bikini champion?? It’s really simple. When you have Doctors on staff formulating products, not only will you lose weight, but your overall health will improve. And that’s exactly what my Herbalife nutrition supplementation program did for me. Dieting for fitness competitions can be tuff, I should know, I’ve been doing it since 2003. During competition season, I was usually tired, moody, and really just wanted to eat. Well, after a 3 year break, I came back, added Herbalife in the mix, and my whole experience was different. I did not have sugar cravings; I had energy and did not have to starve myself on a super low calorie diet. The meal replacements provided me with all the nutrients that I needed, the tea helped me burn calories and gave me energy, and the rest of the products all attributed to my weight management, low body fat and smooth skin.
Here’s my official Herbalife Bikini Rx:
Formula 1 Healthy Meal Replacement Shake – Has up to 20 vitamins & minerals and essential nutrients. 9 gr. of Protein

I use to spend hours in the gym, but a little over a year ago, I decided to try a different method of training that would be just as effective as my normal routine, but would save me time in the gym. I also wanted to be able to work out at home if I so desired. So, I started doing circuit training. Circuit training combines cardiovascular fitness & resistance training. You benefit the most when you rest as little as possible between stations and 60 – 90 seconds between each circuit. Each circuit can have between 4 – 15 stations depending on equipment available & your level of fitness. It’s best to include a form of exercise in each circuit that works different body parts. If you prefer to work out at home, all you need are dumbbells, jump ropes, medicine balls, and resistance bands. Here’s an example of a circuit:
Station 1 – push ups
Station 2 – step-ups
Station 3 – crunches on ball
Station 4 – biceps curls (using dumbbells or resistance bands)
Station 5 – Chest press (with dumbbells)
Perform 10 – 20 reps & for core (abs) exercises, perform 30 reps. After you have completed each station with little rest in between, you have completed a circuit. Repeat each circuit 3 – 4 times.
It’s so much fun to come up with new & different circuits. I have most of my clients do 2 – 3 circuits!!!
Are you tired of not getting results from your regular exercise routine? Are you wearing a hole in your shoe from running on the same old treadmill week after week? That’s how I felt over a year ago so I decided to stir things up and change up my routine. My activity of choice was Muay Thai boxing (better known as Fitness (or Cardio) Kickboxing)!
Kickboxing is an exciting way to get a great workout, and to learn useful martial arts techniques without having to engage in actual combat with others. I love it and it has helped me to overcome the boredom that I was dealing with from training at the gym every day.
Kickboxing improves the efficiency and strength of your heart, blood vessels and lungs, which of course provides your body with greater endurance and overall health. Other benefits include better balance, muscle tone, strength, flexibility and fast reflexes. If that’s not enough, kickboxing workouts can also help you look better by helping you burn stored body fat. Kickboxing is aerobic training, meaning it uses oxygen to burn calories and fat efficiently. The intensity of Fitness Kickboxing helps you train in the Fat Burning Zone (your heart rate at 55-85 percent of the maximum your heart can beat, referred to as your Target Heart Rate) to get the most benefit from your workout. While the average aerobics class helps burn between 200 and 400 calories per hour, the typical intense kickboxing class burns from 500 to 800 calories.
There are also other benefits to Kickboxing. Confidence building comes from the fact many people, women in particular, who have never studied a defensive art, are learning for the first time how to execute an accurate punch or kick that they may need to use someday if ever placed in danger.
Kickboxing also helps to lift your spirits. There is nothing quite like kicking and punching a bag to release stress! It also provides an excellent opportunity to fully express emotion you might not normally have an appropriate channel for. Take, for example, anger. Working it out on a bag or in a kickboxing class becomes a full body expression that is great for your mental and emotional well-being. Many people express greater levels of self-confidence, self-esteem and personal empowerment with consistent Kickboxing training.
I totally enjoy it!! I’ve lost inches and added muscle tone. That’s exactly what I needed!!!! Once I started, I could not stop, I spent less time in the gym and more time punching bags!!
I’m so pleased that my Active Lifestyles Challenge was such a huge success! My goal was to inspire people from all walks of life to accomplish their health and fitness goals. I was able to work with an amazing group of people with various health & fitness goals, all with the common goal to LIVE an Active Lifestyle. We spent 3 months having great workouts near the beach and had an awesome healthy cooking class with my friend Susan Irby, The bikini Chef.
We are getting geared up for round 2 of my Active Lifestyle challenge. This time, it’s going to be even MORE exciting. Every participant will be given a Health Assessment / Wellness profile, meal plan, and supplement plan. We will kick the challenge off at my nutrition center on Friday, April 22, 2011. Everyone will be treated to amazing protein meal replacement drinks, metabolism boosting tea, and Aloe Vera juice. Training will start Sunday, May 1, 2011. If you’re not in the LA area, no worries, you can participate anywhere in the world. I will be posting workouts online and will email you your wellness plan. We will also focus on positive “mind” building. This a very important component to accomplishing your goals in every aspect of your life. Over the past few years, with the help of some very inspirational people, I have learned that we have the power to create the life we want, but it all starts in our mind. So we will all write down our Health goals and hold each other accountable.
For local participants, training will take part in Santa Monica on the beach every Sunday morning. There may possibly be an additional evening training session 1 weekday evening. Online clients will have access to the videos weekly!
If you would like to take this journey with us, we would love to have you. I will be featuring different team members, posting our workouts, and activities so that no matter where you live, you will feel like you’re taking part. It’s easy and FREE to take part. Just email: jfitnessonline@gmail.com with the following information:
Name, Age, Height, Weight, Goal Weight, Health Goals
Now, let’s get busy “mind” building, Healthy Lifestyle building and watch everything else fall into place!!!
On December 31, 2010, I sat down to have coffee with my good friend, the ever so energetic & inspiring Ingrid Vandeveldt. We discussed goals, dreams, and what changes we wanted to make in the New Year. We were both facing some life changing opportunities, so it was great to catch up and bounce ideas off of each other. Once we put our dreams, desires, and goals out into the Universe, we were positive that we would attract them. Ingrid came up with a brilliant idea, to help stay positive and on track; she suggested that we do “One Thing” everyday to put us closer to achieving our goals. We also promised to continuously keep each other motivated, have check-ins in person every few months, and meet back at the same Starbucks December 31, 2011. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but it’s SO much easier having a friend / accountability partner to help keep you on track. You can use this “One Thing” approach to lift you up in all areas of your life: work, personal, health, beauty, financial. Sometimes I end up doing ‘5’ things, ‘1’ for each different area of my life. I’ve accomplished so much and it’s only March. It’s also a bonus for me because Ingrid is a super star entrepreneur, CEO, TV host (and so much more), so any idea I bounce off of her gets great attention and feedback. So if you haven’t already, write out your goals, visualize them, pick an accountability partner, do ‘One Thing’ every day to accomplish them, and watch how your life changes.
Ingrid and I are having our 1st check in mid-April in beautiful Miami Beach!! We will catch up, hang out, do a photo shoot and continue to visualize.
Coconut oil is called the “low fat” fat. It actually acts like a carbohydrate in that it is quickly broken down in the liver and used as quick energy. It is NOT stored like other fats. It boosts one’s energy and endurance. Many athletes use it blended into their drinks. It also supports thyroid function and increases your metabolism (great if you want to lose weight).
Coconut oil improves digestion and absorption of fat soluble vitamins, minerals (especially calcium and magnesium), and amino acids. It improves the body’s use of blood glucose and improves insulin secretion and absorption (great for type II diabetes). In fact, many diabetics (type I and type II) use it to reduce their symptoms.
Coconut oil helps the body heal and repair faster. It aids and supports immune function, protecting us from a variety of cancers.
Coconut oil, contrary to much hubbub, is good for your heart. It keeps our blood platelets from sticking together (and causing dangerous clots). Regular users of coconut oils have a much lower chance of atherosclerosis (clogging of the arteries), arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), and strokes.
Coconut oil can lower your blood pressure.
Coconut oil is a natural antioxidant. It protects the body from free radical damage and prevents premature aging and degenerative diseases.
Finally, coconut oil is the best massage oil on the planet. What it does to your skin, you simply have to witness. It forms a barrier against infections, softens and moisturizes your skin, and prevents wrinkling, sagging, and age spots. It promotes healthy hair and complexion, protects from any damaging UV rays.
How much coconut oil to eat? Between three and four tablespoons a day.
